WHY CYCLISTS MAKE BETTER LOVERS

By Joe Kita

Our sport is acquiring the reputation, especially among outsiders, of being a eunuch’s pursuit, and that’s wrong. It is time for some perspective.

Cycling can make you potent. That’s right. You read that correctly. There’s been no typograpical error. If you’re smart about how you ride, cycling can help you have better sex---not force you into a monastery. Due to a cornucopia of physical and psychological benefits , wich you’ll learn about in this article, cycling has the power not only to make you more desirable to the opposite sex, but also to increase your level of sexual satisfaction, and even your lovemaking ability. (This is equally true for woman, though male sexual problems tend to get more air time)

These benefits are impressive perks that othert sports don’t bestow so generously. However , they’re being overlooked in the least pressure on your squishy bits. Uor sport is acquiring the reputation, especially among outsiders, of being a eunuch’s pursuit, and that’s wrong. It’s time for some perspective. “Will biking cause impotence for the average cyclist? Does that risk outweigh the sport’s cardiovascular benefits?”asks Harin Padma-Nathan, M.D., clinical professor of urology at the university of California School of Medicine. “The answer is NO on both counts.”

Other experts agree, explaining that the tremendous cardiovascular fitness conveyed by cycling will usually outweigh any minor plumbing damage that might occur from ordinary riding. In fact, in most instances, cycling will noticeably enhance sexual performance.  So while you should be mindful of any tingle down below wile riding, don’t automatically assume it’s the onset of impotence. It couldbe the tickle of arousal and virility. Let us count the ways cycling makes us better lovers:

Greater Blood Circulation

Sex is dependet upon an ample supply of blood reaching the genitals.  Blood is what causes an erection in men and excites the clitoris in woman.  Cycling is one of the best exercises for building the cardiovascular system.  It scrubs the blood vessels of cholesterol or plaque, and it strengthens the heart.  In fact, according to cardiologist MichaelCrawford, M.D., a well trained heart can pump 50% more blood with every beat compared to an untrained one.  It’s your sexual drumbeat.

Heightened sex drive

Researchers at the University of California at san Diego studied the sexual behavior of two groups of middle-aged men. The first groupfollowed a regular training program that involved exercising for one hour , three to four days per week.  The secound didn’t exercise.  After nine months, those in the firstgroup reported a 30% increase in the frequency of sex with their partners and in the number of orgasms they experienced.  Plus, they fantasized more about sex, and kissed and caressed their partners more.

Less Stress

The biggest killer of sex drive is chronic stress, says Marc Goldstein, M.D.,director of the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery.  First, it preoccupies the mind, which is really your biggest sex organ.  Next, when you’re under pressure the production of emergency hormones (adrenaline) takes precedence over the production of sex hormones (testosterone).  And finally, a stressed body automatically redirects blood away from nonessential organs such as the gentales, which inhibits sexual performance. Cycling combats all three by relaxing you.

Extra Endurance

The average act of intercourse last just five minutes. Although this stems more from uncontrollable exitemint than lack of stamina, cycling addresses both issues. Because it’s one of the best sports for cardiovascular conditioning, you won’t tore as quicly during lovemking.  Plus, strenuous physical exercise makes you more attuned to your body and its sensations.  Matthew Forsyth, M.D., a urologist and cyclist in Portland, Oregon, suggests that such muscular awareness might even lend ejaculation control and help men postpone climax a bit longer.

Stronger Thrusting Muscles

Bicycling builds powerful leg, buttock and low-back muscles.  According to Dr. Forsyth, all these are used during sexual intercourse.  In fact, the better developed these muscles are, the longer, more athletic and ultimately more pleasurable sex will be.

Bigger, More Noticeable Penis

Men naturally deposit fat in their abdomens, which includes the area at the base of the penis.  As they age, this pad thickens and avantually engulf and eventually engulfs a portion of the organ---approximatly a quarter of an inch for every nine extra pounds.  Since cycling is one of the best exercises for burning calories and fat , it helps keep this pad thin and the penis looking as large as possible.

More Endorphins

These are the hormones released during and after physical exertion that produce feeling of heightened well-being.  This mental state is often referred to as “exercise high”.  But endorphins have another effect: They can make you feel aroused.  Researchers at the University of Chicargo found that one in four woman had experienced sexual arousal or even orgasm while exercising.

Greater Self-esteem and Confidence

To be able to ride 20, 50 or a 100 miles lends a tremendous feeling of accomplishment that positively impacts self-image and your behavior with the opposite sex. Not only do men and woman who feel good about themselves and confident in their physical abilities feel sexier, but they’re often perceived that way, too.
